What is Microblading?

Microblading is an advanced technique of cosmetic tattooing that is done by a process of implanting color pigment beneath the surface of the skin with a row of micro sterile, disposable needles that form a blade shape which will produce the appearance of hair where there isn't any, or add more to enhance and create fullness where hair already exists. This is with a manual hand tool, not a machine.

Is it painful?

A Strong Topical Anesthetic cream and gel are used for numbing before and during your procedure. Pain threshold levels vary from person to person and every effort is made to ensure you remain comfortable for the entirety of the procedure. Most clients say it does not hurt at all! However, please note you will be more sensitive on your menstrual cycle. After the procedure clients say it feels like a slight sunburn, or no more painful than having your brow tweezed.

What are the Different Types of Microblading?

Microblading consist of light airy individual brow strokes only and is idea on clients with youthful, normal to dry skin. Those with oily to combination skin may be better with a Combination Brow or Powder/Ombre Brow. Many Microblade Artists charge more for the extra service of manual or machine shading, I do not. With each initial appointment we will have an hour of consulting and designing and collaborating. I make sure you are aware of and educated about the process of designing and creating your brow. I will explain clearly why and what I am doing, inviting you to participate in the decisions of what we both agree looks best with your facial features! Eyebrows have a strong impact on the way the accent your face, we will do whatever technique needed to create your most Beautiful Brow; I do not charge extra for shading if it is what we believe will look best and create the most realistic brow.

About Lip Blush

Lip Blush is a new trending type of semi-permanent cosmetic tattoo that enhances the lips’ natural tint and shape, giving them a boost and “water color gloss” touch of pigment. It is designed to define your lips and give an illusion of fullness. The treatment delivers very natural results.

A tiny mechanized needle deposits pigment into well numbed lips, lightly stippling the vermillion area of your lips. Initially the color will be more vibrant, almost like a lip stain. It is important not to be misled by immediate “after” results, as the healed color fades 30 to 50 percent once healed. The healed results blend in very naturally with your own lip color.

Unlike traditional permanent cosmetic tattoos, lip blushing is an evolved service that’s meant to provide natural looking, long-lasting results of up to 2 to 4 years following a highly recommended 6 week touch up. Lips often become swollen at first but then return to their natural state but with the perfect tint of lightly enhanced soft color.

Anti-Viral Medication should be taken in advance if you have ever had a history of cold sores. The procedure can trigger a “lip break out” if you are a client who has dealt with this virus is the past. This lip tattoo DOES NOT Give you cold sores if you do not have the virus, but any treatments to lips, including lip injections, would increase the risk of outbreak.

Who should get Microblading?

Microblading is perfect for people who have over plucked brows, who and are tired of having to daily draw in matching brows that end up “smearing off”.  Microblading is especially perfect for the more mature women, in time our brows grow thin, lighten, and drop with our skin. When brows are perfectly measured and drawn in harmony with your natural features, microblading will give a more youthful appearance with color and definition. For most clients it creates a type of face-lift in appearance!  People suffering from alopecia, trichotillomania or any other condition that causes hair loss benefit greatly from microblading, as well as people who just aren't happy with their eyebrows. This method is ideal for anyone simply wanting to enhance the look of their eyebrows with a light airy very natural look.

What is a Combination Brow?

A Combination brow combines microblading strokes with manual “softapp” or light pixel machine shading. If you have naturally uneven brow hair growth or bare patches, the extra machine shading will softly blend out any unevenness giving a more 3-D appearance. It is also idea for those looking for a more defined or filled in brow.

What is a Powder/Ombre Brow?

Unlike Microblading or Combination brow, an Ombre brow has no hair strokes and is created by soft machine shading. It is idea for all skin types, especially oily skin that may blur the strokes. Ombre/Powder Brows may look intense first, but the result heal to a soft powdery finish. If you like a more “filled in brow”, this brow has that look, yet looks natural enough to wear everyday.

How long do the results last?

Microblading typically lasts 18 months and can last up to 2 years or more. The treatment will softly fade over time, an Annual Touch-Up is advised. Significant discounts are offered for touch-up appointments if done with Asheville Ayes, (view Investment link). Other factors that can affect how well clients keep the pigments are sun exposure, chemical peels (glycolic, lactic, etc.), sweating and basically how fast each individual's cells turnover. The final lasting results and time frame cannot be guaranteed as each skin type will hold pigments differently and break down at different rates.

It’s often advised that oily skin consider doing more of a soft powder brow, or combo brow using microblading and light machine shading, (a very natural look). The initial procedure is followed by a complimentary Touch-up appointment within 6 to 8 weeks. It is common for microblading to fade after the first time and this is why the two step process is successful; allowing us to layer and build your brow.

Why is a Touch-up apt needed?

The second appointment is extremely important to ensure the ultimate desired results. The 6 to 8 weeks between appointments allows enough time for the epidermis to naturally slough off and for the color to settle into your skin. Your microblading artist can observe your skin’s ability to keep or slightly blur the brow strokes. At this time we will determining if the second appointment would benefit from additional shading or simply a few more hair-strokes. It also allows us to see any slight variation in the color as this is easily fixed but necessary to adjust. The artist will then note how your skin has received the ink and make any desired corrections and refinements.

PREVIOUS BROWS COSMETICALLY TATOOED ELSEWHERE: If you’ve had previous brow tattooed elsewhere you must call and clarify this in advance. You will need to email or text a clear picture of your present brows. Typically brows must be 50% faded before we can work on them. I will only work on another artist’s previous machine work if I am sure that I can create a new set of brows that you are pleased with. Many machine brow artists work deeper in the skin and though there is some fading, it will still overpower the new microblading.
