What is Microblading?

Microblading allows the artist to create crisp, fine hair strokes that fill in thin brows, or can even create total brow reconstruction. Microblading is a semi-permanent make-up procedure that creates life-like hair strokes on your brows that typically last 18 months. This is done by inserting cosmetic pigments into the dermis layer of the skin. Microblading is also known as brow feathering and hair stroke tattooing.

Is it painful?

Most of my clients report little or no pain. Often, they say it's a 2 on a scale of 1 to 10, You will be treated with anesthetic-numbing creams that are FDA approved.  The first cream is applied to the eyebrow area 25 minutes before we begin the process, clients feel totally numb during the procedure. After the procedure clients say it feels like a slight sunburn, or no more painful than having your brow tweezed.

What happens during an Asheville Ayes Eyebrow Appointment?

First, we chat and consult and draw and draw until we both believe we found the perfect shape that flatters your face. Your thoughts on what you like or do not like about the brow design is most important, and once you are satisfied with the shape and thickness, we choose the perfect color.  I only purchase the highest quality tools and pigments for the best final results, Microblading is exploding in popularity, and so, todays permanent makeup colors for brows are the newest and best on the market.

Finally, you can relax though the procedure and know that there will be absolutely no shocking surprises. I can promise you that you will be thrilled with your first look in the mirror.  The entire visit lasts close to 3 1/2 hours, allowing plenty of time to reassess every choice. Your complimentary touch-up “perfecting” appointment will then be scheduled for 6 weeks after and can take from 90 minutes to 2 1/2 hours depending on how your brows healed.

Why is the second appointment necessary?

The second appointment is extremely important to ensure desired results. This allows enough time for the epidermis to naturally slough off and for the color to settle into your skin. During the perfecting session appointment the artist can see how your skin has received the ink and make any desired corrections and refinements.

Why get Microblading?

Microblading is perfect for people who have over plucked brows, who and are tired of having to daily draw in matching brows that end up “smearing off”.

Microblading is especially perfect for the more mature women, in time our brows grow thin, lighten, and drop with our skin. When brows are perfectly measured and drawn in harmony with your natural features, microblading will give a more youthful appearance with color and definition. In many cases it creates a type of face-lift in appearance!

People suffering from alopecia, trichotillomania or any other condition that causes hair loss benefit greatly from microblading, as well as people who just aren't happy with their eyebrows.

**This method is ideal for anyone simply wanting to enhance the look of their eyebrows.**

After your Microblading session.

Microblading post-care is very important to the appearance and longevity of your new eyebrows. The day of the procedure you will be encouraged to gently blot your brows with tissue. Within 24 hours you may gently clean your brows with water and apply the ointment we give you. This will help prevent scabbing and flaking.  Typically, no one will ever know you just had microblading, unless to compliment your new brows. The process of cleaning with water only in the morning and evening then pat dry and add a thin layer of ointment should continue for the first 5 to 7 days. *Keep pets, dogs and cats away from your brows for the first four days!!**

How long do the results last?

An average of one to two years. Hair color, skin type, after-care, and lifestyle also affect longevity of the results. This allows future flexibility with shape, as standards of beauty change. Yearly touch-ups are recommended to maintain the results, and touch up prices adjusted for those who had their initial microblading done at Asheville Ayes.

Can I get a cosmetic tattoo if I am pregnant or breastfeeding?

Cosmetic tattoos will NOT be performed if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Safety is the best choice at this time and often there can be extra bleeding which actually pushes out the pigment. It‘s important to avoid alcohol and medications that may thin your blood before your appointment.
